Won-Hee An, Pianist

Won-Hee An is in high demand as a pianist, but also as a music educator and church musician. In the fall of 2018, she was appointed to the faculty of Gwinnett Tech College in Georgia, where she teaches Music Appreciation courses. Before she moved to Atlanta, she taught courses at Northeastern University in Boston on Mozart, Musicianship (levels 1-4) and Music Theory for the Music Industry. She has taught faculty-led programs in Austria and South Korea and coached chamber music groups. She also provides private piano lessons.

Won-Hee worked as the principal rehearsal pianist for the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Tanglewood Festival Chorus as well as pianist for the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She has also worked with guest conductors and soloists with the BSO. She has performed extensively across the US and Europe at such venues as the New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall, Boston’s Hatch Shell, the Weil Hall Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall and the Juilliard Theater.

In a review of the Owen/An Duo’s New York debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, which they were granted as winners of the Artist International Auditions, the New York Concert Review proclaimed that Won Hee An’s playing “bespoke someone born to the keyboard” and that the duo played with “a tight knit ensemble that underscored individual freedom within the cohesion of mutuality”.

Won-Hee received a Bachelor’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music, a Master’s degree from the Juilliard School, a Graduate Diploma degree from the New England Conservatory and Doctorate from Boston University.
